Christmas Virgin and Child 2024

Celebrate Christmas with the serene Christmas Madonna and Child Forever stamp. The design reproduces a 17th-century painting from the workshop of Italian artist Giovanni Battista Salvi, known as Sassoferrato. It depicts the watchful Madonna gently inclining her head toward the sleeping Christ Child, who rests against her partially wrapped in beige cloth. Mary wears a blue cloak, a dark red gown, and a pale veil reminiscent of a halo. The original painting belongs to the Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields. William Gicker served as art director, and Greg Breeding designed the stamp. Issued in 2024 in double-sided booklets of 20, this Forever stamp is always equal in value to the current First-Class Mail one-ounce rate.
