Sun Science 2021

Explore the dynamic activity of our nearest star with the Sun Science Forever stamps. The pane of 20 contains 10 designs created from digital images captured by NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory, including one view of sunspots, two coronal holes, two sets of coronal loops, two plasma blasts, an active Sun emphasizing magnetic fields, and two views of a solar flare. The vivid colors are not the Sun’s natural visible colors; NASA colorized each image according to different wavelengths to reveal specific forms of solar activity. A foil treatment adds a subtle shimmer to the designs. Antonio Alcalá designed the stamps using NASA imagery. Issued in 2021, these Forever stamps are always equal in value to the current First-Class Mail one-ounce rate.
