Description

The Purple Heart Medal 2019 stamp honors the sacrifices of U.S. military personnel who have been wounded or killed in action. Its design depicts the medal suspended from its purple-and-white ribbon, featuring a gold-bordered purple heart with a profile of George Washington beneath his family coat of arms. The stamp redesigns the 2012 issue with a purple border and red lettering. Ira Wexler photographed the medal, William J. Gicker served as art director, and Bryan Duefrene designed the stamp. Issued in panes of 20, this Forever stamp is always equal in value to the current First-Class Mail one-ounce rate.
